The Stimson House Replica: A Labor of Love by Dewey Hanson at Hanson Carlen

If you've passed by or visited the Hanson Carlen office, you may have noticed a house model in the window and wondered if it was real. Well, it is! This house model, crafted by Dewey Hanson before his retirement, is a replica of the Stimson house designed by Kirtland Cutter.

Dewey moved from Minnesota and established Hanson Carlen Architecture and Construction in Spokane in 1976. The attention to detail in this Stimson replica is remarkable, requiring well over 1000 hours of work. A tour of the Kirtland Cutter house in Spokane would reveal just how closely this model resembles the actual home.

In 2012, the Spokane Journal featured an article on this unique model of the Stimson home, which you can read here.
